Terms of Service

Welcome to CoupleTalk. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and CoupleTalk, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("CoupleTalk," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or purchasing an assessment, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.

1. What CoupleTalk Is

CoupleTalk is an online relationship-assessment tool. You answer a structured questionnaire, and we generate a written report about communication patterns, compatibility signals, and areas for growth. Our reports are for personal insight and educational purposes only. CoupleTalk is not a licensed therapy service, a mental-health platform, or a substitute for professional counseling. Nothing in your report is medical or psychological advice.

2. Who Can Use CoupleTalk

You must be at least 18 years old to purchase or use CoupleTalk. By agreeing to these Terms, you confirm that you meet that age requirement. CoupleTalk is intended for personal, non-commercial use only.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials private. You are also responsible for everything that happens under your account. If you think someone else has accessed your account without permission, contact us immediately at hello@coupletalk.co.

4. Purchasing an Assessment

We offer two products:

  • Solo Assessment – $19: One person completes the questionnaire and receives a personal report.
  • Couples Bundle – $29: Two partners each complete their own questionnaire and each receives an individual report, plus a combined compatibility summary.

Prices are listed in US dollars and include all applicable fees. We reserve the right to change prices at any time, but any change will not affect a purchase you have already completed.

5. Payment and Billing

All payments are processed securely by Stripe. CoupleTalk never sees or stores your full credit card number. By entering your payment details, you also agree to Stripe's terms and privacy policy. Your purchase grants you a single, non-transferable license to access the report tied to that purchase. You may not resell or redistribute your report.

6. Refund Policy

We offer a 14-day, no-questions-asked refund on any purchase. To request a refund, email hello@coupletalk.co from the address linked to your account within 14 days of your purchase date. We will process the refund to your original payment method, typically within 5–10 business days depending on your bank. After 14 days, purchases are final.

If you are in the EU or UK and have not yet accessed your completed report, your statutory cancellation rights may give you additional options under applicable consumer law.

7. How We Handle Your Data

We take your privacy seriously. Here is exactly how your data works inside CoupleTalk:

  • Free-text answers (any open-ended responses you type) are used only to generate your report. Once your report is created and delivered, those free-text answers are permanently deleted from our systems. We do not keep them.
  • Structured scores (your numerical or categorical results from the questionnaire) are retained for 90 days so you can use our re-test feature to track changes over time. After 90 days, those scores are also deleted unless you explicitly choose to extend retention in your account settings.
  • Account information (your email address and purchase history) is kept for as long as your account is active or as required by law for financial record-keeping.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party for marketing or analytics purposes. The only third party who touches any of your data is Stripe, solely to process payment.

8. GDPR Rights (EU and UK Users)

If you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • The right to access the data we hold about you
  • The right to correct inaccurate data
  • The right to request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • The right to restrict or object to certain processing
  • The right to data portability

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@coupletalk.co. We will respond within 30 days. Because free-text answers are deleted immediately after report generation, there is typically very little personal content left to act on beyond your account email and scores.

9. CCPA Rights (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion of that information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. CoupleTalk does not sell personal information. To submit a data request, email hello@coupletalk.co. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.

10. Intellectual Property

CoupleTalk owns all rights to the questionnaire, the report templates, the scoring methodology, the website design, and all other content we create. Your purchase gives you a personal license to read and use your own report. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute our questionnaire, methodology, or any part of our platform.

You retain ownership of anything you type in the free-text fields. By submitting that text, you give us a limited license to process it for the sole purpose of generating your report, after which we delete it as described above.

11. Limitation of Liability

CoupleTalk's reports are informational tools, not professional advice. We make no guarantee that acting on the insights in your report will improve your relationship. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CoupleTalk's total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid for the assessment that gave rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

CoupleTalk is provided "as is." We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure. We do our best to keep the platform running smoothly, but we cannot guarantee it.

13. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you have a dispute with us that we cannot resolve by email, you agree to resolve it through binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. You waive any right to participate in a class-action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against CoupleTalk. Nothing in this section prevents you from filing a complaint with a small-claims court or a consumer-protection regulator.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version on this page with an updated effective date and email you at the address on your account if the changes are material. Continuing to use CoupleTalk after updated Terms are posted means you accept the new Terms.

15. Termination

You may close your account at any time by emailing hello@coupletalk.co. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or attempt to misuse the platform. If we terminate your account without cause, we will refund any unused purchase within the 14-day window.
