Refund Policy
Effective Date: July 1, 2025
We want you to feel good about spending money with CoupleTalk. If something goes wrong, or if the assessment simply isn't what you expected, we make it easy to get your money back. Please read this page so you know exactly what to expect.
Who This Policy Applies To
This policy covers every purchase made on coupletalk.co, including:
- The Solo Assessment ($19) — one person completes the relationship questionnaire and receives a personal report.
- The Couples Bundle ($29) — both partners complete separate questionnaires and receive a combined compatibility report.
It applies regardless of whether you are located in the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, California, or anywhere else in the world.
Our 14-Day Refund Guarantee
You have 14 calendar days from the date of your purchase to request a full refund, no questions asked. You do not need to give us a reason. You do not need to explain yourself. You just need to ask, and we will take care of it.
The 14-day window starts the moment your payment is processed by Stripe, our payment provider. For example, if you paid on July 1, your refund window closes at the end of July 15.
We offer this guarantee because we believe in our product, and we never want anyone to feel stuck with a purchase they regret.
How to Request a Refund
Requesting a refund is straightforward. Just send an email to hello@coupletalk.co with the following information:
- The email address you used when you purchased.
- The date of your purchase (check your Stripe receipt if you're unsure).
- Whether you purchased the Solo Assessment or the Couples Bundle.
You do not need to fill out a form, call a phone number, or chat with a bot. A real person will review your email and reply within 2 business days. Once we approve your refund — which we will, as long as you're within the 14-day window — Stripe will process the return to your original payment method.
How Long Does the Refund Take to Arrive?
Once we approve your request, Stripe initiates the refund immediately on our end. Depending on your bank or card issuer, the money typically appears back in your account within 5 to 10 business days. Some banks are faster; a few take the full 10 days. Unfortunately, we cannot speed up your bank's processing time, but we are happy to provide you with a refund confirmation number so you can follow up with your bank if needed.
Couples Bundle — Special Notes
The Couples Bundle is purchased by one person (the "lead buyer") on behalf of both partners. A few things to know:
- Only the lead buyer can request the refund, because that is the person whose payment method was charged.
- If both partners have already completed their questionnaires and downloaded their combined report, you can still request a refund within the 14-day window. We will process it without penalty.
- If your partner has not yet completed their questionnaire when you request a refund, we will cancel their invitation link at the same time we process the refund, so the session is fully closed.
What Happens to Your Data When You Refund
This is important, and we want to be fully transparent with you.
When you complete a CoupleTalk assessment, your experience involves two types of information:
- Free-text answers — open-ended responses you type in your own words (for example, "Describe what trust means to you in a relationship").
- Structured scores — the numerical or categorical results that our system calculates from your multiple-choice and scale responses (for example, a communication style score or an attachment pattern category).
Here is what happens to each type after your report is generated:
- Free-text answers are permanently deleted once your report has been created. This happens automatically, regardless of whether you request a refund. We do not store, analyze, or re-read your written responses after the report is built. They are gone.
- Structured scores are retained for 90 days from your purchase date. We keep these scores specifically to power our 90-Day Re-Test Feature, which allows you to retake the assessment after a period of growth and compare your new results against your original scores. This comparison is only useful if we have something to compare against.
If you request a refund and you also want your structured scores deleted before the 90-day period ends, just say so in your refund email. We will delete them promptly and confirm in writing. After 90 days, all structured scores are automatically and permanently deleted from our systems whether or not you request it.
We do not share your data — free-text or structured — with any third party. Not advertisers. Not data brokers. Not analytics partners. Stripe receives only the payment information necessary to process your transaction (your card details and billing email), and Stripe handles that data under their own privacy policy. CoupleTalk never sees your full card number.
Situations Outside the 14-Day Window
We know that life is unpredictable. If you contact us after the 14-day refund window has closed, we will review your situation on a case-by-case basis. We cannot promise a refund outside the window, but we will always listen and try to find a fair outcome. Examples of situations we may consider include a documented technical error on our end that prevented you from accessing your report, or a charge you genuinely did not recognize as a CoupleTalk purchase.

Chargebacks
We strongly prefer that you contact us directly before initiating a chargeback with your bank or card issuer. We have a simple, fast refund process, and a chargeback creates extra work for both of us and can delay your refund compared to our standard process. If you contact us first, we can almost always resolve things faster than a bank dispute.
That said, we understand that chargebacks exist as a consumer protection, and we respect your right to use them.
Your Rights Under GDPR and CCPA
Regardless of whether you request a refund, you have privacy rights that exist separately from this refund policy.
If you are in the European Union or United Kingdom (GDPR): You have the right to access the data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict how we process it, and to receive a copy of it in a portable format. You can exercise any of these rights by emailing hello@coupletalk.co. We will respond within 30 days as required by law.
If you are a California resident (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information, so that last right is already satisfied — but the others are fully available to you. Email us at hello@coupletalk.co to make any CCPA request.
Neither GDPR requests nor CCPA requests will affect your refund eligibility. They are completely separate processes.
Governing Law
This refund policy is governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States. If a dispute arises that we cannot resolve directly with you, it will be handled in accordance with Delaware law. We hope it never comes to that — our goal is always to resolve things simply and fairly by email.
